Bubble of Beauty

If the Gustavus Varsity Tennis Teams are a dynasty (which they are), then “the Bubble” is its castle. But aside from Swedish king Gustavus II Adolph (our college’s namesake), Gustavus has no kings. That means this castle is open and accessible to the whole campus, including club tennis, regional and national tournaments, classes, and everyday play.

What’s Cool About It

Bathed in natural light, the two-tone courts have the same surface as the U.S. Open. The Betty and Boy Toy Observation Deck (named for longtime Tennis & Life campers) has unobstructed views of all six courts. The Kevin Ylinen ’75 Lounge (named for a Gustie tennis champ) provides a comfortable viewing area for spectators and players. In the David and Erik Aasen Classroom (named for a beloved tennis coach and his brother), you’ll step into Gustavus Adolphus tennis history as you host your meetings, classes, and group gatherings. This is the house Gustavus tennis coach Steve Wilkinsen built. Wilk was the winningest coach in college tennis history, and his mantra radiates throughout: Positive Attitude. Full Effort. Good Sportsmanship.
