Go with the Music

When you tour nationally and internationally with a Gustavus music group, you develop a rich artistic and cultural understanding of music in performance. You build deep relationships, trust in yourself and others, and resilience. A distinct feature of Gustavus tours is the professor-led Signature Experience companion course which makes space to reflect on the transferable skills gained through travel and disciplined performance. In the past decade, ensembles have performed internationally in Singapore, Malaysia, Norway, Sweden, Spain, France, Italy, Ireland, and Scotland. Domestically, they’ve traveled from San Francisco to Washington D.C., with many points between. Where will you go next?

Why Tour with Gustavus

Open to all Majors
More than 60 percent of touring students are non-music majors.

Around the World and Close to Home
Ensembles tour both internationally and domestically, from Singapore to Shakopee.

Scholarships for Touring
Gustavus provides financial support for touring for those in need. Cost should not be a barrier.

Practicing Professionalism
Touring encourages the development of professional attitudes necessary to perform at a consistently high level, both in music and in life.

Growth through Discipline
Performing a program multiple times and in a variety of venues fosters a deep understanding and expression of the music and develops a high level of musical discipline and artistic integrity.

Learning through Teamwork
Moving 100+ people and instruments across state lines and international borders develops interpersonal skills, conflict management, and team building—on the fly and in real time.

A Long and Practiced Tradition
Gustavus music ensembles have been touring since 1878. (We really know how to do it.)
