How to Apply

Applying as a transfer student is straightforward and free. Students need to submit:

  • Common App
  • College transcripts from each institution attended
  • Final high school transcript
  • Apply via NursingCAS if you’ve completed the required prerequisites for the Nursing Program.


 

Your Path to Gustavus

Applying to Gustavus as a transfer student is straightforward—and we’re here to support you every step of the way. Our checklist outlines what you need, from required transcripts to optional materials like test scores and recommendations. Once your application is complete, you’ll receive your admission decision and scholarship info—often within two weeks. You can track everything through your personalized Gustavus Applicant Portal.

 

Credit Transfer

 

We know you've put a lot of effort into your education already, and that's why we accept up to 64 transfer credits. Students can also transfer in their Minnesota Transfer Curriculum credit block or an Associate of Arts (AA) Degree, ensuring that most general education requirements are fulfilled before they get here. Transfer Admission Guarantee
 

In partnership with the Minnesota Private College Council, transfer students are guaranteed admission if they meet the following criteria: 

  • Complete the application process
  • Meet a cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • Submit official transcripts sent from each institution attended
  • Complete an AA degree from a community college in the United States or the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum

Scholarships & Financial Aid

Transfer students are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships up to $44,500 per year, including the $2,500 Transfer Pathway Award—just for students who transfer to Gustavus.
