Make a meaningful difference in a child's life.

Gustie Buddies is a mentorship program that pairs Gustavus students and youth with developmental delays from St. Peter and the surrounding communities to provide a safe environment for youth with developmental delays to strengthen personal skills, increase self confidence and build relationships. This will happen through positive and compassionate relationships with Gustavus students who are committed to promoting growth in understanding of themselves and others through dynamic and intentional programming.

Activities & Events

We plan activities for college students and their buddies to spend time together doing things. These include campus visits, games, outdoor activities, seasonal events, and community service projects. Our goal is to make a positive difference in children’s lives while helping students develop important mentoring skills.

Meetings & Time Commitment

Mentors usually meet with their buddy on Tuesdays and rotate between individual/small group nights and large full group events. There are also group events and special activities and fields during the semester such as going to the Science Museum of Minnesota or a local apple orchard. You’ll have training sessions to help you learn how to be a good mentor. Support is available throughout the program to make sure it’s a great experience for everyone.
