Every Day is Leg Day
Rundstrum—or Rundy—is home to 100 or so juniors. Each dorm room has a bed, bed frame, mattress, desk, desk chair, and closet space for each resident. Each room also has a sink and vanity (no carpet, though). This is our eastern-most residence hall, and about halfway up the Hill. Rundy residents work their quads, glutes and calves simply by attending class.
What’s Cool About It
Among the oldest of our residence halls, Rundstrom was built for women in 1938. It’s named for Inez Rundstrom, a Gustavus professor of mathematics for half a century and a pioneering scholar of her time—an American woman who earned her PhD from Uppsala University in 1894. Yes, it’s true the tiny chapel in the basement of Rundstrom is a bit spooky. And yes, there are occasional reports of a ghost roaming the pews in said chapel. Overall, though, the vibes live up to the words etched in Kasota stone on the western door: “May all who thru these portals pass bring peace and joy within.”
