The service will begin at 2 p.m. with an extended prelude beginning at 1:30 p.m., featuring Dr. Chad Winterfeldt, Dr. David Fienen, and Dr. Gregory Peterson. Rev. Brian T. Johnson will provide the sermon, son Geoff Elvee will contribute a musical offering, and various Gusties, inspired by Chaplain Elvee, will assist in serving Holy Communion. A reception will follow. All are welcome to join in worship or via the livestream link below.

An Episcopal priest with Dakota roots, our speaker has long worked with Indigenous, Anglican, Episcopal, and Lutheran communities in the United States and Canada. Through stories of both challenging and fruitful experiences, he explores the power of listening and the work of building relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities. He will also share how he and other Indigenous Christians navigate complex and often polarized conversations about Christianity and Indigenous Peoples. Through these stories and more, the session offers insights into cultivating relationships grounded in listening, respect, and mutual understanding. 

Speaker: 

• Rev. John E. Robertson (Dakota): An Episcopal priest with Dakota roots who has long served Episcopal, Anglican, and Lutheran churches in their Indigenous relationship efforts in the United States and Canada and is currently Site Manager at the Lower Sioux Agency Historic Site, where he draws on his Dakota perspective and ministry experience to help visitors understand the enduring significance of Dakota experiences, history, and relationships with settler society.

But when one of the guests is stabbed to death, the festivities in this isolated house of tricks and mirrors quickly turn dangerous. Then it’s up to Gillette himself, who just happens to think he’s Sherlock Holmes, to track down the killer before the next victim appears. The danger and laughter are non-stop in this glittering whodunit set during the Christmas holidays.
